What a joy over the past month or so to choose just the right combination of picture books to make a “starter pack” for new foster parents, solicit donations during National Foster Care Month, purchase and assemble the books into bundles, and finally today to deliver them!
All children can benefit from learning about foster care, and I wish more classrooms and homes had books with realistic characters representing the foster care experience! Most urgently, though, the children who are living that reality need access to those books–whether as a foster child themselves, or a foster sibling. These three books make a great trifecta to introduce topics, start conversations, and guide children (and their adults!) toward understanding and coping with the foster-related situations they find themselves in. Thank you to all those who donated money toward this effort!
